156th Street Elementary is proud to have received some of the most distinguished school awards.

National Blue Ribbon

blue ribbonBlue Ribbon School of Excellence, is a not-for-profit organization established for the primary purpose of improving academic excellence for all children. This is accomplished through the identification of successful programs in schools across the nation, the creation of an online Best Practices Database to share these best practices free of charge, and to assist in the implementation of successful practices in targeted schools.

California Distinguished School 

distinguished schoolThe California Distinguished School Award program honors some of California's most exemplary and inspiring public schools. Schools selected for the Distinguished School Award demonstrate significant gains in narrowing the achievement gap. This prestigious award is considered the state's predominant recognition of a school's total educational program

California Gold Ribbon School 

gold ribbonThe California Gold Ribbon Schools Award program honors schools that demonstrate exemplary achievements in implementing state standards through outstanding program and practices. The California Gold Ribbon Schools Award was created to honor schools while the California Distinguished Schools Program was on hiatus as California transitioned to the new assessment and accountability systems.

Title I Academic Achievement Award

title1The Title I Academic Achievement Award honors Title I schools that have demonstrated success in significantly closing the achievement gap between high and low-performing students.

To meet the criteria for this distinction, the school must demonstrate that all students are making significant progress toward proficiency on California's academic content standards. Additionally, the school's socioeconomically disadvantaged students must have doubled the achievement targets set for them to two consecutive years.

California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll

Top LA County School for Underserved Students
